So it’s almost time to bid farewell to 2016….

2017 is almost upon us and it seems only natural to look back at the year that’s drawing to a close.

2016 has been a fabulous year for Yellow Hound – in some respects better than I could have hoped. Yellow Hound started the year as a newcomer to the dog agility show scene, opening its account at the Easter UKA show at Dowty, near Cheltenham. At the outset the aim was to set a very high standard in every part of the business, to create images that competitors would truly love to have on their wall, and also to promote the bespoke side of Yellow Hound – the personal on-location photo sessions.

I like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone that has made me feel so welcome in 2016. Many people have made kind comments about my work and many more have purchased images. Thank you – you have made 2016 a very enjoyable year. The Yellow Hound prize draw has been a feature of (almost) every show that I have attended and it’s something that I will continue through 2017.

The big Yellow Hound news going into 2017 is the sponsorship of the UKA Team Tournament. I’m delighted to have taken this step and aim to photograph all of the ten heats, wherever they are in the UK. The 2017 calendar is already very full with agility competitions, including the 2017 Grand Finals (which I’m particularly looking forward to covering exclusively).

The other big news for 2017 is that Yellow Hound will be teaming up with Sean Cameron for many of the shows. For those of you that haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Sean, or seeing any of his work, check out his website . Sean is a long-standing professional photographer with lots of experience of dogs and dog agility shows – he’s also a successful wedding and live music photographer. I’m delighted that we will be working together. What does this mean for Yellow Hound? Well, firstly together we will be able to cover more of the action, ensuring  all competitors will have a chance to purchase fabulous images of their dog in action and, secondly, we are going to be offering photographic prints for purchase at each event of the event action. This is a big step but one that we feel that will be liked by all competitors.

2016 Agility Image Clearout

One measure of 2016 is the number of images that are for sale in the Yellow Hound galleries – there are roughly 65000 images occupying around 3.2TB of disk space.

Sadly it is not practical to keep these images as the 2017 Agility season draws near. Yellow Hound has spent a significant sum in 2016 on disk storage and must free up this space for 2017 images – we cannot go on spending so much on disk space.

So with this in mind there is a very special offer on digital image downloads (only) from all of the 2016 dog agility shoes that Yellow Hound has attended. This offer is live now and will run until January 31st 2017 – after this date the galleries and images will be deleted. The offer is a generous 60% discount on the existing download pricing, and on top of this there will still be the existing volume discount, with the top level of this discount (for 8 or more images) increased to 50%. At these prices I will not be undertaking any further editing.

10% of the profit will be donated to Agility Against Cancer.

There are no discount codes – all you need do is shop as normal. The download prices have been adjusted to the offer level, along with the volume discount.

BUT – they will be gone after January. So if you want some great images to tell the story of your 2016 get ’em whilst you can! Yellow Hound image collages have been a big hit and are a great way to present a selection of images.

In 2017 I will operate a strict 3-month rule on event galleries – i.e. an event gallery will be available to purchase images for 3 months following the event, and then will be deleted.

My name is Chris Tarling and I'm a photographer living in Cheltenham (the centre of the wonderful Cotswolds!) with my wife and two labradors; the irrepressible Coco & Marley. I've been a passionate photographer since my teen years, chasing the perfect image initially through precious slide film and now with my digital cameras. I absolutely love taking pictures of my two labradors, they are without doubt my muses and feature prominently throughout my web site. I have a priceless record of them growing up from puppies, so much so that they are both very used to my camera. Posed photographs have their place but for me the thrill lies in capturing their unique characters in an arresting image. My favourite pictures are invariably taken whilst the guys are playing freely - they absolutely love any water and a good 'throwie stickie' session. Largely this means that they are wet and dirty most of the time but the fun they are having always shines through. My aim in setting up Yellow Hound is to use my skills as a photographer, and my deep love of animals, to generate wonderful, special images for others. Images that will be cherished, that capture their personality and also the bond with their owners. I like to work closely with an animal's owner to understand both of their characters, what they enjoy and hence create an environment at each session that's fun and produces great images. Whilst I love dogs and animals I am keen photographer of many different subjects; you'll see some examples of my work on this site. I also work commercially so if you run a business and are looking for a special image to use then please give me a call to discuss what I can create.
