I have been looking for opportunities to photograph more gun dogs and was recently invited to a shoot not very far away from Cheltenham. I had high hopes of capturing some atmospheric images of gun dogs retrieving game but it was not to be. The shooting group feared that the warm weather would keep the birds dispersed resulting in few birds driven into the air by the beaters. However whilst a reasonable number of birds were sent aloft they all managed to outwit the collective firepower of the group and flew on to pastures new. Better luck next time I guess (for all us ‘shooters’!).
The weather was fortunately not as bad as the forecast and I must thank the group, and especially Rob Reece, for making me feel so very welcome.
Here’s to the next one!
